Sony Playstation Portable to get no "direct" ports of PS2 games

It looks like Sony's upcoming Playstation Portable will be mostly original titles, according to an article at IGN. Sony is pushing developers hard to make new and original titles for their handheld gaming system. Sony has reportedly told at least one developer outright that it will not approve "direct" ports of Playstation 2 titles. This could prove to be a bounty of new gaming experiences for players, as well as a potential nightmare for companies who were looking to cash in on popular franchises but may now have to come up with fresh concepts from scratch.
