Sprint PCS brings streaming media to cell phones

Sprint PCS has teamed up with Samsung to unveil the Sprint PCS Vision Multimedia Phone MM-A700. Priced at $249.99 with a two year plan, this cell phone is one of the first of its kind in the United States to stream video and audio clips directly to it real time through the high-speed (CDMA1X) Sprint PCS Vision network. A built in media player displays the video at 15 frames per second.Content will be provided via a combination of package deal and individual pay for channels and is viewable on the phone's 2-inch, 262K TFT full-color screen. Content providers include CNN, NBC, FOX Sports, The Weather Channel, E! Entertainment, mFlix, Twentieth Century Fox, AccuWeather and 1KTV.
Besides streaming video and audio, the phone will also have the following features: digital camera, digital camcorder, messaging, games, web browsing and ringer tones. The phone comes in a clam shell design, measuring 3.5" x 2.0" x 0.96" and weighing 4.2 ounces.
