Tuesday September 21, 2004
After months of speculation, rumors and leaks, Nintendo released final details today on their high anticipated (and well studied) next generation DS portable gaming system. Specifically, the DS will do (and have) the following:
- Available in North America on Nov. 21 for $149.99.
- Dual-screened, with one screen allowing for touch input using a stylus.
- Voice recognition and multiplayer wireless features.
- Software embedded in the system hardware, which is called PictoChat, will allow DS owners to write messages with an on-screen keyboard or the stylus and send them wirelessly to other DS users nearby.
- 100 developers developing DS specific titles, including well known franchises and original games. DS will also support all existing Game Boy Advance titles.
