A new Archos MP3 player is on the way

Thursday October 14, 2004
Pioneer portable video player developer Archos made a move today to keep their MP3 player stable fresh with the roll out of the Gmini XS200. Priced at $249.99 and set for release at the end of tthis month, the XS200 is a 20GB player which Archos is calling "the world's smallest 5000-song digital audio player." Smal indeed it is, measuring a mere 2.9" x 2.3" by 0.7" and weighing 4.3 ounces.

Here are some of the specs on Archos's newest hard-drive based player:

  • Store up to 300 hours of music or 5000 songs
  • Listen to MP3, WMA, and WAV music files
  • Connect to a stereo to play music (with optional standard audio cable)
  • Quickly organize songs and view tracks by artist, album, genre, title and year with the ARCLibrary
  • Store important data files on the large 20-gigabyte hard drive
  • Rename, move, copy, delete files and folders or make playlists on the move without a computer thanks to the ARCHOS Browser
  • Navigate easily with the icon-based menu and intuitive 2" gray-scale LCD screen
  • Transfer content via the USB 2.0 high-speed interface and store data from a PC or Macintosh
