This week I've focused my sights on a quality, low cost portable CD player which makes for a great gift idea for the sports minded. The Sony S2 Sports ATRAC3/MP3 CD Walkman D-NS505 supports a variety of CD types, including ATRAC3plus, ATRAC3, MP3 and CD-R/RW. It comes in a water resistant casing with exterior rubber gaskets and seals to keep the interior of the machine clean.

The D-NS505 comes loaded with plenty of features. There is an automatic volume limiting system to help control distortion, as well as a bass boost to better pick up low notes in your tunes. 18 different playback modes, like repeat and shuffle, are supported to put a little variety in your music listening order. The small black and white LCD shows all the necessary information, including MP3 file information (artist, album and song if you've burned your MP3s onto a CD) so you know what is playing.
