Creative snaps new portable speakers on laptops

This week happens to be the week the consumer electronics industry gathers as a whole in Las Vegas for their biggest trade show of the year. New product announcements over the next few days look to be fast and furious. An early one came yesterday regarding the new Creative TravelSound Notebook 500 portable speakers. Priced at $99 and available now, these speakers are designed to bring higher audio quality and clarity through the use of titanium microdrivers which are a step above those found in regular laptop speakers.

The TravelSound Notebook 500 speaker weighs ten ounces and has an eight inch length. It attaches to the top of your notebook's monitor through a spring clip. It can be powered by a USB cable hooked to your laptop, a universal power adapter or AAA batteries (30 hours of estimated playback with this option). On the back of the speaker is a line in jack to hook your laptop's sound cable to.
