As many saw during the Super Bowl, Napster had a cute ad showing off their new portable music service. This new service, known as
Napster To Go, allows consumers to "rent" as many WMAs (Windows Media Audio - a type of music file like MP3s) as they can handle for $14.95 a month. These WMAs are downloaded to your computer and transferred to
compatible digital audio players (sorry iPod owners, you are out in the cold at the moment as Apple is not interested in teaming with Napster at this time) using the Napster software and Windows Media Player 10.
The reason "rent" is emphasized as opposed to "own" is that if you discontinue the service the music files you downloaded in conjunction to Napster To Go are no longer playable.
