New dual MP3 player/cell phone headset from Plantronics
Communication headset maker Plantronics yesterday unveiled the new Plantronics MX100-s headset for use with the iPod or other MP3 players. The cool thing about this headset, which is available now for $39.99, is that it serves a dual purpose function as a headset/stereo headphone device by also connecting to your cell phone.
"People want to be able to listen to music, but still receive an important phone call," said Dean Hovey, vice president and general manager of mobile and entertainment markets for Plantronics. "Now, someone can listen to their iPod and easily answer an incoming call via a simple switch on the headset cord."
The MX100-s sports twin connectors which plug into your digital audio player and mobile phone at the same time. A switch on the headphone cord provides for reportedly easy switching between the two devices. The headset comes with a flexible grip design for behind the ear, volume control and a microphone for conversations.
UPDATE: A note from the folks at Plantronics regarding a question on how to know if your phone is ringing while your digital audio player is going. Their answer was "the MX100-s allows the user to hear the ring of an incoming call provided that the media player volume is not too loud."
