Thursday May 19, 2005
Tiger Telematics today announced the American debut date of their Gizmondo multi-entertainment handheld. The device, which is already appearing in parts of Europe, will appear in North American stores on August 11th for $399.

The Gizmondo is powered by Microsoft Windows CE and is equipped with a 2.8-inch TFT colour screen, a Samsung ARM9 400Mhz processor and incorporates the GoForce 3D 4500 NVIDIA graphics accelerator. It provides high quality gaming, multimedia messaging, an MP3 music player, Mpeg4 movie playing capability, a digital camera and a GPRS network link to allow wide-area network gaming. Additionally, it contains a GPS chip for location-based services, is equipped with Bluetooth for use in multi-player gaming and accepts SD and MMC card accessories.

Carl Freer, Co-founder and Chairman, Tiger Telematics, says: "The partnerships we've developed with major games publishers, married with internally developed content, satellite navigation products and Smart Adds, will present a unique portfolio that will guarantee the Gizmondo will stand out when we launch in the US on 11th August." He added, "The North American market is hugely important and we will make every necessary resource available to ensure a successful launch."
