Gizmondo portable gaming device goes North American in August
Tiger Telematics today announced the American debut date of their Gizmondo multi-entertainment handheld. The device, which is already appearing in parts of Europe, will appear in North American stores on August 11th for $399.
The Gizmondo is powered by Microsoft Windows CE and is equipped with a 2.8-inch TFT colour screen, a Samsung ARM9 400Mhz processor and incorporates the GoForce 3D 4500 NVIDIA graphics accelerator. It provides high quality gaming, multimedia messaging, an MP3 music player, Mpeg4 movie playing capability, a digital camera and a GPRS network link to allow wide-area network gaming. Additionally, it contains a GPS chip for location-based services, is equipped with Bluetooth for use in multi-player gaming and accepts SD and MMC card accessories.
Carl Freer, Co-founder and Chairman, Tiger Telematics, says: "The partnerships we've developed with major games publishers, married with internally developed content, satellite navigation products and Smart Adds, will present a unique portfolio that will guarantee the Gizmondo will stand out when we launch in the US on 11th August."
