Apple settles iPod battery lawsuit

Thursday June 2, 2005
Owners of older generation iPods who have had battery problems may soon be getting some money back from Apple, according to this AP article. A class action lawsuit filed almost two years ago by owners of these older iPods charged that Apple's popular digital music player did not meet "claims that the rechargeable battery would last the product's lifetime and play music continuously for up to 10 hours".

The lawsuit, AP said, could cover millions of first through third generation iPod owners, who will get "$50 vouchers and extended service warranties" once the settlement is finalized. Consumers filing a claim will be required to have a receipt which shows purchase up through May 2004.

More details on the lawsuit and settlement can be found here.
