New iTunes phone and/or iPod coming in September?

Is a cellular phone which could play music downloaded from Apple's popular iTunes online music store coming September 7? That seems to be the buzz at the moment in the tech world.

This phone, which the Associated Press says would be produced by Motorola, has not officially been confirmed yet by Apple or Motorola. Both companies have sent out invitations to members of the press and others however regarding news conferences on Sept. 7 about a major announcement. This would most likely relate to the new iTunes phone which, according to the AP, was originally unveiled at a trade show back in February.

Also caught up in this rumor mill is cellular provider Cingular. It has been said that they would be the one to sell the iTunes phone if one were in fact announced.

Sources who have "seen the phone" have also given technical details to the press, according to Ziff Davis. These details have also not been confirmed by Apple, Motorola or Cingular.

There is also a rumor that Apple will announce a new iPod of some type on September 7 as well. It is unclear however if this is actually a separate product announcement or instead related to the possible iTunes phone unveiling.
