Dell sends Pocket DJs into retirement
Monday February 6, 2006
It looks as if Dell is dumping their line of hard drive based MP3 players, according to a news story posted over at c|net’s News.com site today. The reason, though given by Dell to the tech news site as a desire to focus on their flash memory-based MP3 players instead, most likely has a huge amount to do with the huge market share Apple’s iPod has in the hard drive-based player market.
Dell’s hard drive players were known as the Pocket DJs. Their flash memory players are called the Dell DJs, and they come in storage sizes up to 512MB, or approximately 220 songs.
