New Swiss Army Knife MP3 player powered by SigmaTel

Tuesday February 7, 2006
SigmaTel, a company which makes multimedia hardware found inside many MP3 players, yesterday said their technology was behind a new player from Swiss Army Knife maker Victorinox. The SWISSMEMORY s.beat series of flash-memory based MP3 players are available in 1GB and 2GB storage capacities.

The SWISSMEMORY s.beat players, said SigmaTel, can store data files as well as storing and playing MP3, WMA, WAV and OGG Vorbis digital audio files. These players will offer up to eight hours of playback on a rechargeable lithium ion battery.

Other features of the new SWISSMEMORY s.beat players include incorporation of the player into a full-metal Swiss Army Knife, a built-in FM radio with 15 presets and the ability to record FM broadcasts, a voice recorder and support for dragging and dropping music or data files to the player without needing special software.
