Corgi's iCar replica models rock to the iPod

Monday February 13, 2006
In what looks to be one of the more unusual iPod accessory announcements of late, Corgi, a maker of die-cast scale models, today unveiled the iCar. This product, when it debuts in the fall, will be priced at $34.99.

The iCar, said Corgi, will come in two 1:24 scale models: the Cadillac Escalade and Nissan 240SX. Both models can connect to any music source, such as an iPod, that has a standard headphone jack. When connected, the vehicles move to the music, which Corgi describes as rocking “right to left, front to back, and up and down...colored lights illuminate the wheel wells, rims, undercarriage and engine and trunk areas”. A speaker is built into the iCar so one can listen to the music as the model car does its thing.

The iCar runs on 3 AAA batteries (included) or with an AC adapter.
