Sony Updates PlayStation Portable Software
Wednesday April 26, 2006
Sony yesterday made a significant software update available to owners of the PlayStation Portable. This update, version 2.70, can be updated by either downloading it from Sony’s Web site onto a Memory Stick Duo card and transferring it to the PSP or activating the PSP’s wireless option, connecting the portable game player to a wireless hot spot and selecting the update option from the on-screen menus.
Version 2.70 has the following significant updates:
- Macromedia Flash content can now be displayed through the browser.
- Audio content from a RSS feed (i.e. podcasts) can now be saved onto a Memory Stick Duo card.
- Extended support for playing AAC music (i.e. the native format of music on iTunes).
- Disabling chapter skip (controlled by the L/R button) for UMD videos.
- Fixing “certain conditions” which occur when using a 2GB or larger Memory Stick Pro Duo.
