Zap iZaps iPods with Rechargeable Battery Packs

Tuesday May 16, 2006
Zap, a maker of fuel technologies, stepped into the iPod accessories arena last week as they unveiled a new series of rechargeable lithium battery packs for Apple’s portable audio player. The new iZap series looks to be currently available for the iPod 5G (video), nano, shuffle and mini.

The iZap series, said Zap, reportedly offers hours of additional playback time for supported iPod models. An example of this is their shuffle iZap, which supposedly will extend the playtime of the player to around 60 hours.

The rechargeable battery packs, added Zap, can be charged up to 1,000 times and reportedly has up to four times the power of conventional batteries. Prices for the iZap series start at $49.99, according to Zap’s Web site.
