XtremeMac Tangos, MicroMemos iPod Users

Monday June 5, 2006
XtremeMac, a maker of iPod accessories, last week announced the upcoming release of two add-ons to Apple’s iPod. These are Tango, an iPod speaker system with audio/video line out, and MicroMemo, a digital recorder plug-in device.

The Tango ($199 - pictured at right), said XtremeMac, is a 2.1 speaker system which works with all iPod models with a dock connector. This single, freestanding unit combines four neodymium-drivers and an independent, downward firing subwoofer to create what its maker calls “big sound from a small, stylish box”. Besides charging and powering an iPod when one is docked, the Tango also sports an audio/video line out port, along with S-video output, for displaying an iPod 5G (video)’s video content on a television screen.

The MicroMemo ($59.99), meanwhile, takes advantage of an iPod’s high-fidelity audio capabilities to record and play back external audio material such as a lecture via a flexible, detachable microphone. It offers one-touch recording, has a built-in speaker for instant playback, draws its power from the iPod and stores its 16-bit recorded audio on the iPod’s hard drive.
