iLuv Video System Supports iPod with Video, DVD Playback

Monday June 19, 2006
If you’ve got a hankering to enjoy your Apple iPod with video’s video playback features on a larger screen, a company called iLuv may have the answer for you. They’ve recently released a tablet-style portable DVD player called the iLuv Video System which also has an integrated iPod dock built-in for letting one watch the portable media player’s contents on the Video System’s bigger screen.

The iLuv Video System i1055 retails for $249.95. For that $$, one gets a player which displays the video of a DVD or iPod with video on a 7-inch widescreen display. The Video System comes in two colors – black and white – to correspond to the different iPod skin colors. iPod integration is done via a slot in the back of the player, in which the iPod rests and can be charged while at the same time letting a user at the same time enjoy video or music playback through the portable DVD player.

Other features of the iLuv Video System include DVD/VCD/Audio CD/MP3 CD playback support; an “enhanced user interface with detailed controls”; S-video output for TV viewing; dual headphone jacks; slow/fast motion play and zoom operation; and three different power source options, including AC power, a rechargeable battery (up to 2.5 hours of playback) and a car cigarette lighter.

the video quality from the iPod through the 7 inch screen is terrible. If you are buying this for the iPod integration, DO NOT buy it. You will be dissapointed. The DVD function is OK but there are plenty of portable DVD players out there that are much better in quality. Also, this unit is extremely thick in person. The company had cleverly position the unit for the camera shots that makes it look thin. This is a thump way down. DO NOT BUY.
