SanDisk Adds 8GB Flash MP3 Player, Drops Prices on Others
SanDisk made some fairly significant moves today to try and cut into Apple’s lead in the MP3 player market, unveiling their largest flash memory based player to date and cutting prices on select older models. The new player, called the Sansa e280, is priced at $249.99 and should be available in early September.
The Sansa e280 contains 8GB of flash memory, which SanDisk says makes it the largest flash memory based MP3 player on the market to date with a capability to store 2,000 songs. This number can be upped even further via a microSD memory card slot. The player, which has a 1.8-inch color screen, measures 1.7-inches x 3.5-inches x 0.5 inches and is capable of up to 20 hours of playback via its rechargeable battery. The Sansa e280 also has a built-in FM radio/recorder, voice recording, backlit controls, support for Microsoft PlaysForSure compatible online music services and USB 2.0 connectivity.
In regards to the price drops, SanDisk now offers the e250 (2GB) for $139.99, the e260 (4GB) for $179.99 and the e270 (6GB) for $219.99.
