Archos unveils portable media player with camcorder functions

Archos, one of the early companies behind portable media players, has unveiled a portable media player which has built-in camcorder functions. The Archos 404 Camcorder is priced at around $300 and should be available now.
The Archos 404 Camcorder, via its built-in video capture feature, can record up to 80 hours of VGA-quality video (640 x 480) on its 30GB hard drive. This video can be viewed on the player's 3.5-inch color LCD screen. In addition to video capture recording and storage, the Archos 404 Camcorder can store up to 25 DVD-quality movies, 300,000 photos or 15,000 songs and is compatible with a variety of media file formats such as MP3, JPEG, MPEG-4 and WMA. Other features include picture output to a television, musical slideshows, a built-in 1.3-megapixel digital camera, a weight of under seven ounces, support for a variety of online video and music stores and file transfers to a Mac or PC via USB 2.0.
