Your iPod nano + Gym Equipment= High Tech Workout
Nike and Apple are looking to enhance your iPod experience at your local gym by teaming up with gym gear manufacturers. The end result of this interesting marriage? Gym gear which will plug into your iPod nano and help you track your progress.
Nike and Apple are using their Nike + iPod platform, which they first kicked off with wireless sensors in running shoes which beamed workout info to your iPod, to accomplish this task. You'll be able to plug your iPod nano into workout equipment made from the likes of Life Fitness and Star Trac to track your cardio workouts. You'll then send the data collected by your iPod and the gym equipment to a Web site where you can check it against your goals.
Gyms set to participate in this tech workout approach include 24 Hour Fitness nationwide and Virgin Active Health Clubs internationally. There is no indication at this time of what, if anything, this service will cost and Nike + Apple plans to launch it in gyms globally this summer.
