Purebuds Earphones Claim to Offer Safe Listening

Friday August 8, 2008
The idea of damaging your ear drums by listening to loud music through earphones turns off some people to buying them. One company, Amazing Tech Products, thinks it has a winner on its hands in the form of a product which uses "reverse sound technology" to protect your hearing. It is called Purebuds and pricing is set at around $50.

Amazing Tech Products describes its reverse sound technology as redesigning the earphones so that the speaker unit "is designed facing opposite to the ear" so as to not put sound directly into the ear canal. The Purebuds are said by its manufacturer to still put out quality sound while at the same time protecting your hearing. This claim has not been tested by me, but if it holds true to form it proves for some interesting possibilities for those sensitive to sound.

Features of the Purebuds include three different audio effect tips that do things like create surround sound or bass boost and reported reduced ear discomfort for the design. They are available now and you can visit the product Web site for more details if you are interested. (Note: Product mentions on the Portable Electronics blog do not certify endorsement of the product, but rather provide details on new products which might be of interest to consumers.)
