Apple Says New 2nd Generation iPod touch "Funnest iPod Ever"
And we come, at last, to my most favorite of iPods – the iPod touch. Apple did its magic spin big time on this player, announcing several interesting changes to the second generation touch. It prices around $230 for 8GB, $300 for 16GB and $400 for 32GB.
Apple says the new touch is smaller and lighter then the first generation, sporting a new design "that features a contoured metal enclosure with integrated volume control buttons and a brilliant 3.5-inch widescreen glass display." It still continues to have built-in 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi wireless networking, touchscreen controls and support for many software titles available for purchase and download from the iTunes Store.
New teaks to the iPod touch include a built-in speaker, enhanced ways to interact with games, support for the Genius feature, and built-in Nike + iPod support. This latter function works with an optional sensor put into a shoe to help you track your workouts while you listen to your favorite tunes.
Battery life is up to 36 hours of music playback or six hours of video playback on a single charge. Apple also says "the 32GB model holds up to 7,000 songs, 25,000 photos or 40 hours of video; the 16GB model holds up to 3,500 songs, 20,000 photos or 20 hours of video, and the 8GB model holds up to 1,750 songs, 10,000 photos and 10 hours of video." You can get more details on the new iPod touch at Apple's Web site.
