New BlackBerry Smartphone Offers Flip Phone Design

Wednesday September 10, 2008
Wish your BlackBerry could be more compact and in a flip phone format? Research In Motion, makes of the BlackBerry smartphones, finally is doing up a model just like that. Meet the new BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220.

The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220, of which specific availability and pricing details will be announced at a later date, is the first such BlackBerry to embrace the popular flip phone design. It is a quad-band Edge-based model, weighing only 3.6 ounces and measuring 3.9- x 1.9- x 0.7-inches. It sports two light-sensing color displays, including an external one to preview incoming emails, text messages and phone calls and a larger 240 x 320 internal one to handle most of your primary phone needs.

Technical aspects of the Flip 8220 are many, but a few of the more interesting ones include RIM's version of a QWERTY keyboard, voice-activated features, Bluetooth 2.0, a rechargeable battery which provides four hours of talk time and around 14 days of standby time and a 2-megapixel digital camera with flash, zoom and video recording. It is also media file friendly with its media player capabilities. You can get more details on the Flip 8220 at the About Smartphones Web site or by visiting the product's Web page.
