Dell Unveils Laptop-Like Internet Buddy

Wednesday September 24, 2008
Dell recently unveiled a new "Internet buddy" laptop-like device which is portable and runs Linux, or optionally Windows XP, for the purposes primarily of browsing the Web or checking email. It is called the Inspiron Mini 9 and you'll find it pricing starting around $350.

The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is unlike traditional laptops in that it is very stripped down in terms of features. What you end up with instead is a device which sports a 8.9-inch color display, hosts a slightly smaller solid state drive for file storage and has 802.11 wireless/Ethernet wired for Internet connectivity options.

Other features of the Mini 9 include free online storage, large keypads, a built-in Web cam, built-in Bluetooth and an external speaker. It is available now and you can find out more details about it from Dell's Web site.
