Ematic MP3 Player Also Takes Digital Photos

Tuesday December 2, 2008
E-matic, a maker of consumer electronics products, recently unveiled a MP3 player which does double duty as a digital camera. This hybrid device is known as the Ematic MP3 with built-in camera.

The Ematic MP3 with built-in camera looks much like your typical digital camera, sporting a 2-megapixel lens and a 2.4-inch color display. It is through this display you interact with this player, making use of its 4GB of internal storage to enjoy video and MP3 playback as well as support for a variety of other audio/video file formats.

Features of this E-matic device include several body color choices, a built-in speaker, built-in rechargeable battery, USB 2.0 support, voice recording and digital picture viewing. You can get more details on it over at the E-matic Web site. [via Shiny Shiny]

(11) AL says:

I recently bought one of these units. For the price it does do alot. Make sure you use the CD that comes with the packagae and convert the files correctly. To CHARGE the unit, turn the “ON” “OFF” switch to “OFF” before plugging into the USB port. It will then charge and you can still work putting your files into it. Takes about (2) Two hours according to the manual. By the way you can go to thier site at http://www.ematic.us/#9 and download. Just print as a booklet, or both sides to get a large printed copy. Remember to turn “ON” the power switch before you try to activate the player. Hope this helps. Al

How do i get different styles 4 this thing? also can i be able to change the screen when it 1st turns on?

January 3, 2009 at 10:47 pm
(19) sakoi says:

i got this player for xmas and its the worst peice of technology i have ever used. For all the good reviews its not that great. But before mine stopped responding today i did find out some things that may help you.

@ This is confudalating-you can change the screensaver by going into your pictures, going to the picture that you want used, holding down the menu button. When a list appears on the left of the screen, use the volume button to go down to screensaver and press the play button. it’ll take a minute to change but it works.

To put music on your player, (my files were WMA, thats the only file I know that it accepts, sorry it doesnt give us a list to work with like most other players probably do-I know Sansa does) you just copy the songs you want over to the Audio folder you see on your computer screen. This takes a long time however compared to other mp3 players i have had. I havent figured out what video types it accepts, so i cant help you there. Slthough the pictures and vidoes it takes are pretty good, the sounds a bit off and muffled but its ok. My old Sansa recorded a lot better.

My player shut down when i was changing the screensaver(which i have done several times already) it froze, and stut down for unknown reasons. I know the screen still works because it says DV-PMP and then goes black. My computer no longer registers its plugged in. Its got almost a full battery so i have no idea why its doing this.

okay - just got mine - amazing at first , great exterior, cool sleek design…
Cons:
- cheap plastic feel (and i mean cheap)
- few buttons (extremely confusing)
- camera is only good in lots of light
hard to put USB in without thinking of damage
- very confusing manuals
- no sorting of music (ex. artists, genre, date…) literally have to click 200 times to get to the song i want
- after i added all of my music (took about 2 hrs.) i played it, turned it on and off a few times, and every single file and setting was erased (thats the point where i am right now)
- again very cheap; breaks easily
- its not as easy as 1,2,3 like ipods and gigabeat, very hard to find shortcuts to buttons
- horrible manuals

Pros:
- very, very , very lightweight
- plays videos, takes pictures, records voice, has built-in speaker, videocamera all in one!
- cheap price $50-70
-really good speaker (for such a low price thing- i was amazed)
- camera takes nice pics in light
- easy to put music on (copy & paste)
- videos support Divx format (& more)
- micro SD slot
- changeable wallpaper
- comes with good earbuds (in my opinion)
- can use e-books!!!!!

Overall, if you want to be frustrated don’t get this, but if you want amazing stuff for real cheap, go ahead!

(27) KzMom says:

For those of you who are having problems, get a different cord. One of my digital camera cords worked perfectly. It’s in the cord, I guess it’s a generic piece of crap. This MP3 is great, I’ve bought my 2nd one. Picture quality is good outside in full sun, otherwise it’s purple, same for the movies.

Take the time to learn it before you complain. And change out the cord.

(29) overworked1963 says:

for music files (mp3 or wma) all music goes into the directory AUDIO. No subfolders are alowed the player wont see it. Just copy and paste each file. You can use winamp 5.x but you have to setup the portable to send all audio files to the right folder with no subdirectories. Does that make sence?
