Audéo PFE: A Better Designed Earbud?

Thursday December 11, 2008
Phonak, a developer of hearing aid products, is betting consumers will be interested in a new earphone line it recently released which is designed to be comfortably worn for hours on end. It is called the Audéo PFE (Perfect Fit Earphones) and it is pricing around $140.

The Audéo PFE, say Phonak, provide a "secure fit" not usually seen with other earbuds. The earphones sport a special ergonomic design which "includes a choice of silicone and foam eartips in a variety of sizes to accommodate different ear canals and help isolate ambient noise. For those who prefer a more secure fit, silicone ear guides are provided for increased stability and less cable noise."

Phonak added these earphones also specially let listeners hear more sound at lower volumes, hopefully preventing hearing loss from high MP3 player volume levels. They are available in two body colors and come with a carrying case for all the assorted accessories. More details on the Audéo PFE can be found at its Web site.

(Note: Product mentions on the Portable Electronics blog do not certify endorsement of the product, but rather provide details on new products which might be of interest to consumers.)
