Sony Touchscreen Walkman Coming in January?
It looks like a Sony digital Walkman with touchscreen abilities will be revealed early next year. If this report is indeed true, it will open a new front in Sony's efforts to cut into the dominant portable media market share owned by Apple and its iPod.
Sony Insider reports this new Sony touchscreen Walkman will offer wireless Internet access abilities as well as a three-inch OLED screen offering "100% color reproduction across a wider viewing angle." The wireless Internet is said to allow tie-ins to music whereby, for example, one could choose the name of a stored artist and go online to watch music videos being performed by that person or group.
There should also be enhanced audio capabilities, noise canceling, FM radio and a host of other attractive features. Interested parties will have to wait, most likely, until the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show in early January to get full details on this upcoming Sony player.
