Finding Yourself a Kindle Before Christmas
The Amazon Kindle seems to be a popular portable electronics item at the moment, as it is sold out on the Amazon Web site. Expected shipment dates for new models from the factory are projected at 11 to 13 weeks, so there seems no chance of getting one this way this holiday season.
There are, however, a few other avenues in which to secure this ebook reader last minute. One is to check out the Amazon Web page for the Kindle and view the units for sale by previous owners. Prices vary here – the Kindle, if bought through Amazon new, costs $359. Prices for already purchased ones start around $475 and range up to $1,500. For that latter price, one is better of waiting until new models are available next year. Refurbished models from Amazon are surfacing now and again, so paying close attention to the previously purchased Kindles for sale page is not a bad idea as they are going within a few hours.
One could also try an auction site such as eBay where, at last count, over 500 matches came up on the search words Amazon Kindle. Many of the for sale units found here are said to be sealed and unregistered, but bidding on those is running easily above the regular listing price.
