30GB Zunes Freezing Up in Mass - Reason Still Unknown

Microsoft has a big problem on its hands today, according to a number of tech blogs and news reports. 30GB Zune players, for some unknown reason, melted down in mass around midnight, leaving many unhappy users with dead players and Microsoft's Zune programmers reportedly scrambling for answers.
Reports are numerous, according to Ars Technia, that the 30GB Zune models began “restarting and locking up at their boot screens.” The tech blog Engadget, meanwhile, reports Microsoft employees are scratching their heads frantically at the moment trying to figure out what is going on.
The Microsoft Zune support Web site currently reports the company is aware of the problem and working to fix it. You should watch there for more details on fixes. I'll post more details on a fix as well when information becomes available.
