CES 2009: RCA Lyra Slider

Thursday January 8, 2009
Audiovox is showing off at the Consumer Electronics Show this week its new RCA portable media players which feature loading on connecting to a computer CD ripping and media management software. These RCA Lyra Slider players are the 8GB SL5008, pricing around $100, and the 16GB S5016, pricing around $120.

The RCA Lyra Slider players are so named because they sport a slide design, revealing the controls of the player behind the screen. The easyRip software, as it is named, loads when one of these players is connected to a computer's USB port, letting users organize their media libraries, copy CDs to transfer the music to the player, capture Web video for playback and create personalized sets of songs or playlists.

Features of the Slider players include a 2.2-inch color display, support for select online music subscription services, MP3/WMA audio support, video file playback, JPEG photo displays, FM radio and voice recording. Battery life is said to be up to 30 hours for audio and five hours for video. More details on these new players are available on the RCA Web site.
