CES 2009: Toshiba SD-P101S, SDP93S, SDP72S

Portable DVD player announcements at CES 2009 were remarkably absent this year. It doesn't mean manufacturers are abandoning the product category though – it is more likely new models are getting released, but they just aren't getting a lot of mention anymore. Toshiba is a case in point, devoting just a tiny speck of news to three new portable DVD players for 2009.

Leading the pack is the 10-inch screen size SD-P101S, pricing around $300 and available now. It will be joined in March by both the the seven-inch screen size SDP72S, priced around $130, and the nine-inch screen size SDP93S, priced around $180.

Toshiba said of the new models available in March that the SDP93S has a contemporary design, 180-degree widescreen swivel LCD, dual headphone outputs, support for MP3s and JPEG images and a battery pack offering up to five hours of playback. The SDP72S features a widescreen LCD screen, dual headphone outputs, supports MP3 and JPEG playback and includes a car cord adapter.
