CES 2009: GiiNii Movit Mini
GiiNii, a company not mentioned here before, is out with news of a rather interesting portable device defined best as a mobile Internet tablet. It is called the Movit Mini and it will be available sometime mid-year.
The GiiNii Movit Mini is a portable unit, sporting a 4.3-inch screen, which looks a lot like a portable media player. It does, in fact, play audio and video media, but only that which is streaming from the Internet. This device, to that end, wirelessly connects to the Internet through any available Wi-Fi hotspot, such as one found at Starbucks. A subscription may be required though to connect to a hotspot, depending upon who is the provider at that specific location.
Features of the Movit Mini include Bluetooth 2.0 support, Skype VOIP calling, a built-in microphone/speaker, Web camera, headphone jack and built-in address book. No pricing information is yet known, but more details can be found on the product's Web page.
(Note: Product mentions on the Portable Electronics blog do not certify endorsement of the product, but rather provide details on new products which might be of interest to consumers.)
