Say what you will about the iPad's lack of Flash and other shortcomings. But Apple's latest device definitely has the all-important buzz.

Case in point: Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pa. will be providing every incoming freshman an iPad under its "Griffin Technology Advantage Program" starting in the fall of 2010. That's right, every incoming freshman.

If that wasn't enough, the university will provide a new MacBook as part of the deal. The school will also provide those same students a brand-spanking-new MacBook after two years and let them keep the old one. Who runs this school, Uncle Moneybags?

Still, as anybody who has taken an economics class knows, there's no such thing as a free lunch. The privilege apparently comes at the cost of a $500 fee per semester, according to the New York Times.

Fortunately, there's an app for covering all those costs for most Seton Hill students. I believe it's called either Mommy or Daddy.
