It's official: Dell finally goes Streakin' this week.
No, no, no, store those digital cameras of yours. Before I get in trouble by inadvertently starting rumors about Dell Computer CEO Michael Dell running "au naturel" in some college campus or soccer field somewhere, I'd just like to clarify that I'm talking about his company's Streak tablet. Yes, bummer, I know, but I'm sure you'll be able to live with the disappointment and grow stronger as a person.
Anywho, pre-sale registrants can get their Streak on earlier this Thursday at www.dell.com/mobile. Procrastinators can join the Streaking, er, Streak party a day later. Pricing will be $299.99 for folks who agree to a good, old ball-and-chain agreement with AT&T for two years. People who reject AT&T's advances (it's not you, babe, it's me) can fork over $549.99.
Just in case you still have no idea what I've been talking about, the Streak is a 5-inch Android tablet that also makes phone calls while conveniently shielding more than half of your face from the evil stares of the people you're bugging around you. The device is primarily designed as a portable media player and Internet device for enjoying media, navigating and social networking. Unofficially, I'm sure you can use it to give wallet and purse snatchers concussions by throwing the ginormous phone/tablet hybrid at their fleeing noggins.
The timing for the device's sale is interesting, given that Verizon's popular Droid 2 also goes on sale around the same time. But while the large Streak does kinda make it look like your making phone calls with a carbon black pop tart on your ears, avid media consumers might actually like the large real estate.
Expect an article with more specs in the near future. Folks looking for instant gratification can also check the official Dell Streak press release. Also, don't forget to check out our Slate PC/Tablet Roundup for more info about tablets.

Interesting! I hope that everyone’s Sunday is going great and I hope that they have a great week!
What a waste, they could of gone with a version with a data only plan that would make it a choice over the overly large iPad. But by making it a phone they sock you into a pricy plan. Really, there’s lots of us that just want a 3G web device to surf/read/email with when we travel without lugging a laptop. Dell blew it…..
Not a word about Notion Ink ADAM. Come on, the best tablet out there in this planet.Check it out. And you call yourself journalist…so sad
@Raj
Um, you do know that I’ve posted stuff on the Notion Ink Adam since early last year? Right in the midst of the iPad launch even:

It’s also been featured in our Tablet roundup since I first put that list together last year:
