Question: What does the Kindle and the U.S. Treasury have in common? Answer: They both print money.

Well, not literally for the Kindle, of course. But the device and its accompanying Kindle eBooks have been a bona fide money maker for Amazon.

Now the Kindle business is poised to make Amazon even more moolah, just in time for the holiday season. That's because Amazon announced today that it will allow non-Kindle owners to give Kindle Books as gifts to Kindle-owning friends and relatives simply by providing the recipient's e-mail address.

Can you say ka-ching?
