Question: What is the Barnes & Noble Nook Android App?
Answer:

The Nook Android App is an eReading application for Android 1.6 devices and higher that was introduced by Barnes & Noble on July 22, 2010.

Although B&N has released similar apps for devices such as the iPhone before, the Android app is the first one to feature the new “Nook” branding. According to B&N, all its eReading software will be renamed Nook to capitalize on its eReading brand.

Features include:

  • B&N eBookstore access: Users of the Nook Android App can access B&N’s online catalogue of more than 1 million eBooks, along with a half million free ones. The eBookstore can be accessed by touching Shop Books from the Library
  • Book lending: B&N’s LendMe feature allows users to lend select eBooks to friends for 14 days, including non-Android devices and computers that run the B&N eReading software.
  • Synergy across multiple devices: The app syncs with other devices that run the B&N software, including the iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, BlackBerry and HTC HD2 smartphones, PC and Mac. This allows users to read across these devices and pick up where they left off from another device by syncing the last page read.

B&N also offered customers who downloaded the app after signing up for a new account at BN.com to get free copies of Dracula, Little Women, and Pride & Prejudice, along with samples of two current bestsellers.
