Dimensions & Screens:
The white Nintendo DS Lite, according to Nintendo, is less than two-third the size of the original Nintendo DS, measuring 5.2-inches wide by 2.9-inches long x 0.85-inches tall when closed. It's also more than 20 percent lighter. When the Nintendo DS Lite is opened, it reveals two very bright 3-inch color LCD screens which can be adjusted to four levels for different lighting conditions and to save on battery life. Both screens are capable of providing quality 3D renderings, with the lower screen being touch sensitive and featuring a tougher film cover for greater protection as one taps away with the included stylus. The touch screen feature is designed for a greater degree of interactivity and control with the game being played.
Multiplayer Support:
Moving beyond the dimensions and the screen, the Nintendo DS Lite allows users, through built in wireless technology, to connect through a Wi-Fi hotspot to chat and play with other DS owners around the globe when using a Wi-Fi ready game. If local play against others is more of what has in the mind, the DS Lite can wirelessly link up to 16 players in a range of up to 100 feet away so they can call compete against one another.
Other Features:
The Nintendo DS Lite also incorporates a built-in microphone port which sits in the center of the unit. This microphone port can be used to interact with games via telling them what to do.Joining the microphone port as extra features are built-in gaming controls, backwards compatibility with Game Boy Advance cartridges via a separate media port, built-in stereo speakers, a headphone port and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery which delivers between 5 and 19 hours of play on a four-hour charge.
