Do you like peanuts? Would you want a MP3 player if it were shaped like a peanut? What if it cost you just $30 max? These are some of the highlights being promoted by Nextar, a maker of consumer electronics products, in a new MP3 player it is launching.

The MA558 player from Nextar, at the time of this writing, is priced at around $20 for a 1GB model and $30 for a 2GB capacity. The player itself is about two-inches long, weighs very little and is, sort of, in the shape of a peanut. It is available in five body colors, including black, pink, red, blue and silver.

Battery life on the MA558 is said to last around 12 hours when you insert a AAA battery. One of the major reasons this player is so inexpensive is that it is simply a MP3 player, meaning you can't watch videos or display digital images on it. Audio file format support is limited as well to the common MP3 and WMA types.

The small screen of the MA558 allows you to navigate your stored music via folders, in case you want better organization of your tunes. This music can be enhanced as well when listening to it via seven equalizer modes: normal, pop, rock, classical, jazz, bass, and soft as well as SRS WOW sound-effect technology.

Other features of this little MP3 player include built-in voice recording, the ability to act as storage for non-music files, USB 2.0 for quicker file transfers from a computer and support for future feature upgrades.
