The Philips SA9200 has 2GB of flash memory housed in its thin, black and silver body, the back of which is brushed aluminum. This 2GB of memory is capable of storing up to 1,000 songs (MP3, WMA) or 500 digital images (JPEG), which are transferred onto the SA9200 through a USB cable, which also charges the players internal battery. The battery offers upwards of 14 hours of playtime before needing to be recharged.
Besides being capable of copying over a users personal copy of compatible music and digital audio files, the SA9200 is PlaysForSure certified. This PlaysForSure certification from Microsoft means that the player, when using Windows Media Player 10 or higher, can copy and carry copyright protected music from online music subscription services like Napster and MSN Music.
Besides offering what looks to be a colorful display, the SA9200 sports backlit sensory touchpads and a special scrolling system for browsing and selecting music stored on the player. Using the integrated touch strip which reacts to a fingers movement, one controls the on screen scroll speed by tapping, swiping or dragging their finger across the strip. An illumination follows each movement. Navigation and selection of digital photos stored on the SA9200 is handled in a similar matter.
Built in features which help make listening to music or viewing photos more enjoyable include graphic icons, on-screen album art, music arraignment through various categories, full screen picture display, picture thumbnails, music slideshows and one-touch play, pause or skip track keys.
The Philips SA9200 is priced at $199.
