With regards to specific types of content, Audible tends to focus on audiobooks and periodicals. Browsing through their virtual audio bookstore, best selling titles like Fast Food Nation and Lance Armstrongs Every Second Counts rub shoulders with The Wall Street Journal and the Harvard Business Review. There is also a fair amount of public radio content, popular talk shows and original content segments from well known people like comedian Robin Williams.
As far as pricing goes, Audible currently offers what is called their AudibleListener program. For one of two monthly fees, you get a set number of included downloads, discounts on individual purchases and a choice of several promotions such as a free MP3 player or a discount on your first month of membership.
For those that dont want to join the listener program, individual audio programs can be purchased. Subscriptions for programs with frequently updated content can be purchased as well.
Downloads of your newly purchased content are handled through Audibles AudibleManager software. They can be done either manually or through scheduled downloads. The latter option is especially useful when you have daily subscriptions. AudibleManager also handles the transfer of the programs to your digital audio player, providing information like how long the transfer will take and how much storage space is left.
Audible audio content which is downloaded can be kept for as long as desired.
