Manufacturers who take the time to ensure their devices support USB 2.0 always win high marks during file transfer time. In this particular case, the Slim does it well, blazing through 100 MB of MP3 files in a little less than 3 minutes. Test results were about the same whether dragging and dropping, or using Creative’s MediaSource software.The quality of the sound was another big plus for the Slim. At a rich 90dB, it made it easy to feel like doing a jig to Celtic music. The included ear buds were definitely better then your average “included in the package” ones for sound, but got uncomfortable in the ears after awhile. Getting your own set of headphones may be the better way to go.
As with other players these days, many of the functions are controlled through the menus viewable on the LCD. The MuVo provides a great deal of control in an easy manner. The on screen choices, though many, are labeled so most people will understand the selection they are making as they navigate with the scroller button. There are choices for play modes like repeat and shuffle, file deletion, 16 different display languages, microphone and FM recording and a lock setting to prevent accidental change by bumping a button. The only minor pitfall in this area was being kicked back to the play screen after approving a selection. Providing the ability to manually navigate out would have been better.

Despite a few minor shortcomings, Creative’s MuVo Slim is definitely what its image lives up to: sexy, sleek and ready to party.
