Here's a thorough list of all the most common and popular Air Jordan nicknames. While this is not a comprehensive list of everyAir Jordan colorway nickname known to man, it is a reference point for all the most notable colors, themes and packs of the entire Air Jordan line.

Popular Air Jordan Nicknames

Bred: Any Air Jordan in the basic Chicago Bulls black and red colorway. Popular Air Jordans given the "Bred" colorway nickname include the Air Jordan 1, 4, 11, and 13.

Cement: The black-speckled grey paneling first found on the White/Black/Cement Grey Air Jordan 4, later used as a reoccurring motif on other Air Jordan models.

Chicago: Various Air Jordan models have been nicknamed "Chicago" due to their obvious color palette matching the Chicago Bulls team colors. Almost every Air Jordan has a colorway that could be dubbed "Chicago", but the name is most commonly used to describe colorways of the Air Jordan 1 and 10.

City Series: A set of colorways of the original Air Jordan 10 in matching color blocks but with different accent colorways, each representing different cities where players sponsored by Jordan played. The cities included Chicago (Michael Jordan, with red accents), Orlando (Nick Anderson, with royal blue), Seattle (Kendall Gill, with green), and New York (Hubert Davis, with blue accents and orange Jumpman logo on the sole). There was also an all-black colorway with purple accents for Sacramento (Mitch Richmond).

Concord: Refers to the 'White/Black/Dark Concord' colorway of the Air Jordan 11. The "Concord" AJ11 is one of the most popular and iconic basketball shoes of all time.

Cool Grey: A colorway first used on the Air Jordan 11 Retro in 2001, which then appeared on the Air Jordan 9 Retro in 2002. The "Cool Grey" colorway is characterized by a mostly medium grey upper with white accents.

DMP: Stands for "Defining Moments Pack". In 2006, Jordan Brand created a special two-shoe set of the Air Jordan 6 and 11 in gold-accented colorways to celebrate Michael Jordan's career with two of his most popular Air Jordan models. Later, other DMP packs came about including one with two colorways of the Air Jordan 1 and another with two versions of the Air Jordan 7.

Elephant: Or Elephant Print. A pattern originally introduced into the Air Jordan line on the Air Jordan 3 that has since become one of the most iconic design cues of the entire Jordan Brand lineage.

Fear Pack: A three-shoe set of the Air Jordan 3, 4, and 5 Retros with similar dark colorways inspired by the fear Jordan put into the hearts of his opponents.

Fire Red: A red hue used on the early Air Jordan models 3, 4, and 5.

Infrared: A bright red colorway first used on two colorways of the Air Jordan 6 in 1991.

Motorsports: Colorways of the Air Jordan 5 Retro and 6 Retro designed especially for the Jordan Brand Motorsports motorcycle racing team and sold in very limited quantities.

Olympic: USA-themed colorways of the Air Jordan 6 and 7. Michael Jordan wore the "Olympic" Air Jordan 7 as a member of the Dream Team in 1992. The Air Jordan 6 Retro later got an "Olympic" colorway for the 2000 Summer Olympics where it was worn by Team Jordan members Ray Allen and Vin Baker during Olympic play.

Playoffs: Various Air Jordan colorways have been dubbed the "Playoffs" simply because they were worn on court by Michael Jordan during playoff appearances. Traditionally the Chicago Bulls would switch to black sneakers for the playoffs, which means all models bearing the "Playoffs" nickname including the Air Jordan 8, 12, and 13 have mostly black colorways.

Snake: Refers to any of the Air Jordan 11 colorways with a faux snakeskin motif on the mudguard. Two "Snake" Air Jordan 11 Lows released in 2001, one colorway each for men (white/navy) and women (white/pink), and another black and green colorway released in 2014.

Space Jam: Refers to the 'Black/Varsity Royal-White' colorway of the Air Jordan 11, because they were first seen being worn by Michael Jordan in the movie Space Jam.
