Beyond strict audio, Delphi’s portable satellite receiver has a few other features to offer which may intrigue you. These include the ability to store the information of 20 songs in a memory buffer so you can remember later who you listened to, the ability to set up to 20 entries in an alert function which tells you when a particular song or artist is playing on a specific XM channel, a wide range of useful song and other information displayed on the six-line LCD screen, the ability to track on screen 20 stocks and see their prices and movements in the market, the ability to track on screen information about your favorite sports teams, a sleep timer and alarm.
Much on screen navigation and selection is done with the side dial and is fairly easy to figure out and use. The LCD screen is easy to read, even in bright sunlight. Battery life, rated at around five hours, came out to be slightly below that at four and a half.
The Bottom Line:
As a first generation portable satellite receiver, the Delphi MyFi XM2Go offers a decent stab at a new product category. Portable satellite radio, given its difficulty receiving signals indoors, is a tricky type of product to get right. Delphi’s entry, with its relative compact size, the ability to record XM programming for later use and the vast abundance of included accessories, does it pretty well. On the downside, a relatively low battery life compared to a device like a MP3 player and the included sub-standard headphones do ding this product somewhat.
