The Logitech AudioStation is a new stereo system for the Apple iPod which is designed to deliver a full range of balanced audio from a relatively compact design. This speaker system is priced at $299 and will be available in October.

Logitech’s AudioStation is designed to be compatible with the iPod with video (5G), iPod nano, iPod (4G) and iPod mini. This stereo system measures 16-inches long by 4-1/4-inches deep by 7-1/4-inches tall and includes an integrated dock which can simultaneously play music from an iPod and recharge its batteries.

Stereo sound from the AudioStation is driven by two drivers – 1-inch soft-dome tweeters for high frequencies and 4-inch long-throw woofers – and has a bi-amplified acoustic design to help deliver a better listening experience. The speaker system comes in a one body design and has removable cloth grille covers.

No buttons or knobs are present on the AudioStation, with Logitech instead settling for touch sensitive front panel controls which are illuminated by small LEDs when the system is on. Control options include power, volume, radio station selection and audio choice selection.

As part of its feature set, the AudioStation offers a digital AM/FM tuner, a large LCD which displays information such as radio station or time, 3D stereo sound, adjustable bass and treble levels, a 3.5mm input jack, video output jacks and a built-in alarm clock.

More information on the Logitech AudioStation can be found at Logitech’s Web site.
